A number of Carmarthen Harriers members were nominated and short-listed in a wide range of awards at this year's Carmarthenshire Sports Personality Awards 2013, held at the Stradey Park Hotel in Llanellion Wednesday January 29th 2014. In it's 16th year, The Annual Awards event recognised the sporting achievements of athletes, coaches and volunteers in Carmarthenshire providing an opportunity to congratulate and honour today's accomplished sports people. The quality of entries received this year reflected the wealth of sporting talent here in Carmarthenshire.


Nathan Jones was joint winner in the "Young Volunteer of the Year" a ward for the second year in a row. Runner-up awards went to Shaun Pearce (Young Sportsman of the Year) Delyth Brown (High Performance Sports Coach of the Year) Carol Jones (Community Sports Coach of the Year) and the Carmarthen Harriers Junior Cross Country team (U17 athletes Achraf Liles, Dwayne Griffiths, Aled Phillips, Lucy Jones and Carys Jones were present on the evening to receive the award on behalf of the club)

The sport of athletics was well represented with nominations/finalists from the sport in 9 of the 12 categories this year.

Executive board member for regeneration and leisure, Councillor Meryl Gravell said "The quality of entries received this year reflects the wealth of sporting talent we have here in Carmarthenshire. The judging panel had a difficult task in selecting finalists as the standard of entries has been exceptional. It's important we recognise and reward those athletes coaches and volunteers who achieve and who contribute to the continued successes of sport in the county"
