HARRIERS TRAINING RETURNS ON WEEK OF TUESDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER

 

September  New Season Note:

A warm welcome to the new athletes that have recently joined us and to those regular attendees returning after the summer break.

For details, take a look around the website which will also be developed in the near future. Upcoming events can be seen on the left hand side and on the home page news stories on a regular basis.

 

"WAITING LIST" for our Under 11 and Under 13 age groups has been in place during the summer months as numbers have increased rapidly.

We now have a few spaces available for U11 and U13 to join Carmarthen Harriers: all members are expected to show a willingness to compete for the club through the winter months and cross country season and indoor athletics season.

We hope that all our athletes who attend training on a weekly basis continue to enjoy their time at the club. We aim to reply to event and query messages as quickly as possible on all platforms.

A reminder that athletes need to be 9 years of age to join the Harriers.

Coming Up in September 2018:

The same arrangement process applies for the month of September as has happened over the summer, whilst there is still some day light. All children meet at the track with coaches to either train on the track in various disciplines or cross country group training, which begins on 11th September. The group will make use of the field that is situated behind the car park.

Dorrien Thomas' training group is the only group currently taking a mid season break and will return on Tuesday 25th September, where the focus will be on Indoor Combined Events in October.

 

From October 2018 onwards:

The club has booked the sports hall inside the Leisure Centre throughout the winter months (October 2018-March 2019) so if the weather is bad/raining/wet on a Tuesday evening, the 6.00 - 7.00pm junior groups will meet inside the leisure centre in the sports hall. Athletes will warm up inside before coaches decide whether to move outside or stay indoors, depending on numbers. Cross Country runners continue to train outside on the field/track on a weekly basis.

You can still pay training fee at the track entrance or to coach inside the hall.

Training continues throughout the winter months whatever the weather, so be prepared and wear the correct kit to train for the cross country season and other events including the indoor competitions.

The 6.30 - 8.00pm middle distance group will continue to meet outside at the track unless other arrangements have been made.

 

Thursday Evening 2018/19 Winter Training:

Thursday Evening Training is invite only by coaches for those who compete regularly for the club across under 11, under 13 and under 15 categories in the 6.00 - 7.00pm slot. It will continue outside on the track each week unless other arrangements have been made.

 

Who are the Coaches and the discipline that they coach:

 

Training Fees:

£3 on Tuesday Evening (6pm - 8pm) and £2 on Thursday Evening (6pm - 8pm).
