January Indoor Events continues...Welsh Senior Championships 2018 PDF Print E-mail

Indoor competitions continue to come up thick and fast...with the Welsh Athletics Indoor Senior Championships the next event after the Welsh Athletics Junior Open & South & East Wales & South West England Meeting on Saturday 6th January.

The Welsh Athletics Indoor Senior Championships (with selected Junior Championships events) will be held at the National Indoor Athletics Centre in Cardiff on Saturday 27th January 2018.

The Welsh Athletics Senior Championships will bring together some of the best Welsh talent ahead of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

The prestige of these championships has attracted the likes of Asha Philip, Adam Gemili and Andrew Pozzi and some of the best British athletes should be in action again this year in Cardiff.

The event will once again also play host to selected Junior Championships events and this year, due to a Gwent League fixture on the rearranged date of the Junior Championships, selected distance events will also take place within the Senior Championships. A full list of the Junior Championship events taking place on 27th January can be found below:


Senior Women / Menywod: 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 60m Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Put

Senior Men / Dynion: 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 60m Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Put

Under 20 Women / Merched O Dan 20: 1500m, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot Put

Under 20 Men / Bechgyn O Dan 20: 800m, Shot Put

Under 17 Women / Merched O Dan 17: 1500m, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot Put

Under 17 Men / Bechgyn O Dan 17: 800m, Shot Put

Under 15 Girls / Merched O Dan 15: 1500m

Under 15 Boys / Bechgyn O Dan 15: 800m

Under 13 Girls / Merched O Dan 13: 1500m

Under 13 Boys / Bechgyn O Dan 13: 800m



The event will also feature the heats of the Junior Club Relay Championships - the finals of which will take place at the Welsh Athletics International on Sunday 4th March.

The Senior and U20 Championships are events open to non-Welsh eligible athletes. U13, U15 and U17 championship events are restricted to athletes that are Welsh-eligible only.

Medals will be awarded to the first three Welsh athletes in all events. In the event of a non-Welsh athlete winning a Senior or U20 event, they too will be awarded a gold medal as the "Open Winner". No other non-Welsh athletes will be eligible for medals.
