West Wales again won the overall team championship, winning by over 200 points from the South Region. 1 West Wales 1086; 2 South Wales 864; 3 East Wales 720; 4 North Wales 405

West Wales also added the Male and Female trophies, along with new awards for this year - combined U15 B/G Trophy, combined U17 M/W Trophy and combined U20/Snr M/W Trophy.

IPC Athletics European Championships - Swansea 2014 PDF Print E-mail

 

Monday August 18th - Saturday August 23rd, Swansea hosted IPC European Championships, the first time the event has been held in Great Britain. Around 560 of the best athletes from 37 countries compete at the biggest para-sport event ever to be held in Wales. There were a number of Commonwealth Games Athletes in action and a number of world records were broken.

Gerald Codd Trophy and Welsh Junior League Cup + Plate Finals RESULTS

Carmarthen Harriers finished third at this year's Gerald Codd Trophy Match at Haverfordwest and fifth overall at the Junior League Cup Final at Newport.

Louise Arthur League Season / 2014 Harriers Camping Trip PDF Print E-mail

The fourth and final league match of the Louise Arthur League this season was completed at Brecon on the 12th of July. This year, things had been altered where all nine clubs were competing in one division instead of two, as done in previous years, and it made for better competition. Carmarthen have qualified for the end of season Cup Final with the best 4th place team.

CONGRATULATIONS to the U17 & U20 West Wales composite team of Pembrokeshire Harriers, Carmarthen Harriers, Neath and Llanelli athletes, who have gained promotion to the Premier 2 Midland Division next season, after winning the three matches held this season by a huge margin. Thank you for all the efforts you have put in during the season, and also to the team managers who have worked hard to get full teams out.

Five Carmarthen Harriers members competed for Wales in the annual Schools International Match against England, Ireland and Scotland and twenty-three travelled to Brecon for the Welsh Senior League Cup Final.

Three Harriers members ran in the 3000m races at the start of the meeting - Sioned Glynn (11.19.45) and Ellie Kiff (11.42.00) in the U15G/U17W and Ben Thomas (10.08.86) in the U15/17M race. Most of the Commonwealth Games athletes were in attendance and Christian Malcolm competed on home soil for the last time. Full Results now available here - Ysgol Y Dderwen won this year's event, held at the Carmarthen Athletics Track on a warm and sunny evening (Monday June 23rd). The competition was again sponsored by McDonalds and the medals to the first three in every event were presented by Ron Mounsey of McDonalds and the Mayor and Mayoress of Carmarthen Cllr Arwel and Catrin Lloyd

Ysgol Y Dderwen's Success at the Urdd Primary Sports Festival PDF Print E-mail

The re-scheduled Primary Sports Festival, organised by the Urdd, was held in Aberystwyth on Saturday and Sunday June 14/15 2014. Unfortunately due to the bad weather the event was cancelled in May but on this occasion, it was held in glorious sunshine and warm temperatures on both days. Ysgol Y Dderwen Carmarthen had a successful weekend, winning the Rugby and Cross Country Schools Team titles. They also did well in the football tournament.

It was a busy weekend for a few of our athletes. Friday evening and all day Saturday was the Dyfed Secondary Schools Athletics Championships in Carmarthen and the third Louise Arthur League match of the season was held in Swansea on the Sunday.

THIS WEEKEND, the 6/7/8 June will be a busy one for Dyfed and the harriers - the competition starts this Friday evening in Carmarthen (Dyfed Secondary Schools Athletics Championships) and finishes at Swansea later on Sunday afternoon (Louise Arthur League). The club will also be hosting visitors from Australia. Full Details on all the weekend events are available via this link.

Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton Relay - Tuesday 27th May PDF Print E-mail

Carmarthen welcomed the Commonwealth Games Queen's Relay Baton on Tuesday May 27th. After spending the day in the Urdd Eisteddfod at Bala on the Monday, the baton travelled south to Carmarthenshire. It started at 8am in Laugharne, before visiting Carmarthen Leisure Centre, Ammanford and Llanelli. The baton returned to Carmarthen Town Centre in the evening for celebrations.

Harriers Training Info

Carmarthen Harriers Training - Tuesday and Thursday 6pm - 8pm at the Carmarthen Leisure Centre Athletics Track, Johnstown

All athletes must be 9 years old to be able to train and compete with us

Tuesdays: junior ages 6-7pm & seniors 6.30-8pm

Thursdays: older athletes and invite only for juniors between 6-7pm

The club take part in Track and Field, Cross Country, and Road/Mountain Running events with many going on to being Welsh International and champions
